Bio:

Zunayme Romero began at the early age of 8 years, participating in engraving and ceramic workshops in her native Cuba. She became fond of the smell of ink and her interest kept growing until recognizing that this was her calling. In 1999 she went to study at the Academy of Art San Alejandro de Cuba, where she graduated four years later. She has participated in several exhibitions in Europe and America.

 

What does it means for you to participate in “Mirada de Mujer Miami”?

I find supremely interesting the descontextualization of a mannequin. The way in which the project is proposed and its artists, are a challenge that I liked from the first meeting we had. Remove an object, whichever it is, from its context and convert it into art, change our points of view towards it and invite others, through the artwork, to have a different look through Mirada de Mujer.

Zunayme Romero empezó a la temprana edad de 8 años, participando en talleres de gravado y cerámica en su país natal, Cuba. Se aficionó al olor a tinta y fue creciendo más su interés hasta reconocer que esa era su vocación. En 1999 entró a estudiar en la Academia de Arte San Alejandro de Cuba, donde se graduó  4 años después. Ha participado en varias exposiciones en Europa y América.

¿Qué significa participar en Mirada de Mujer Miami?

​

“La descontextualización de un maniquí me resulta supremamente interesante. La forma en la que se plantea el proyecto y sus artistas son un reto que me gustó desde la primera reunión que tuvimos. Sacar un objeto, sea cual sea, de su contexto y hacerlo arte, cambiar nuestros puntos de vista hacia él e invitar a otros, por medio de la obra, a  tener una mirada diferente a través de Mirada de Mujer”.
